Litchi chinensis (Lychee)

A small evergreen tree from southern China to western Malaysia), it is slow growing but long-lived. The foliage is dark green compound. It bears a small flowers in the spring pollinated by honey bees. By end of the summer delicious red fruits are covering the entire tree. The tree can grow any non- alkaline soil in frost free areas. Locate the tree somewhere in a spot that will not be disturbed for some time, as it will start bearing fruits about 30 years old.
