Tecoma stans (Yellow Elder, Trumpet Bush)

Yellow elder is a semi-evergreen shrub or small tree .It has bright green opposite leaves, which are pinnately compound and the leaflet has a sharply toothed edges. The sunshine yellow flowers are trumpet shaped. They hang in showy clusters at the branch tips. The blooms appear in flushes throughout the growing season. They are followed by long string bean like pods that hang in vertical clusters. It has invasive potentials. The species needs full sun and well drained soil. Used in mixed plantation mainly with evergreen where the yellow flowers contrast with the dark green leaves of the evergreen plants.
