Calliandra californica (Baja Fairy Duster, Tabardillo)
Baja Fairy Duster is a medium sized shrub that grows to 1.5 meters high with an equal spread. It’s a native of Baja California and Mexico, has a delicate-looking, bright-colored, evergreen shrub. It demands a frost-free climate and plenty of direct sun. This shrub blooms after the rainy season (spring and summer). The long red stamens of these flowers resemble the tufted head of a dusting brush. It attracts hummingbirds and butterflies.
Baja Fairy Duster makes a beautiful addition to any xeric landscape where year-round color and low maintenance are desired.
