Cupressus × leylandii (Leyland Cypress)
Leyland cypress is a cross between the Monterey cypress and the Alaskan cedar. It is a very fast-growing, tall tree with feathery green foliage. In small landscapes it must be regularly trimmed or it will outgrow its space. It tolerates salt, drought, and a variety of soil types, and can tolerate severe pruning. There are various cultivars with different colors of foliage.
