Cestrum nocturnum (Queen of night, Night Jasmine)
The plant is a fast growing slender shrub. Leaves are thin, simple leathery. The long tubular bell-shaped green flowers of Night Blooming Jasmine open at night to release their perfume. In the evening the fragrance becomes almost intoxicating. Plants bloom on and off during the warmer months of the year. Night Blooming Jasmine grows very fast. Fruits are toxic. It prefers rich soil and full sun. Should be pruned heavily to maintain the shape. This is a popular landscape plant in warm climates. For a mixed border, background, or as a free standing specimen. Use it in butterfly gardens, as night blooming jessamine provides food for some caterpillars.
