Quercus cerris (Turkey Oak)
"The Turkey Oak is the largest native Oak species in Lebanon. The tree reaches 30 meters in height, and its Arabic name, Al Ezr (reportedly derived from Aramaic), means pillar (in reference to the impressive trunk of thetree). The Turkey Oak is deciduous, and loses its five- to ten-centimeter long, deeply lobed leaves in autumn, after they have turned yellow. The tree is fast-growing and has a somewhat rounded canopy.Turkey Oak trees do not bear acorns on a regular basis, and the acorns they do bear remain viable for only one month." *
