Taxodium distichum (Baldcypress)
Bald cypress got its name from the fact that this is the only tree in the Cupressaceae family which is deciduous. In its original surrounding Taxodium grows in marches where the roots send up "knees" or vertical root protrusions . The tree has a pyramidal shape reaching 40 m in height as a mature tree. The leaves are linear in shape and turn yellowish brown in the fall. The cones are decorative green at the beginning than turn into brown. It can adopt to many conditions such as urban or dry sites.
