Ficus microcarpa var. Green Island (Dwarf Ficus)
The plant is delivered from F. microcarpa which is a large tree but this variety became a small slow growing shrub. It has a dense covering with a rounded format. The advantage of this species is that it does not have any aggressive root system like to other Ficuses. It has an oblong leathery leaf less than 5 cm. Take well shaded locations, can be planted under trees, but does best on partial or full sun. Green Island Ficus can grow on any soil type, once its established does not require too much water. Drought and high salt tolerant. The plant has a slow growth rate therefore needs only maintenance pruning.
