Pseudophoenix sargentii (Buccaneer Palm)
Pseudophoenix sargentii is an attractive small palm, resembling the royal palm but can be distinquised by its trunk which is more smooth and glossy.It is a solitary, monoecious palm. It holds an open crown of pinnate leaves which can measure up to 2 m long. In habitat, it is usually found along the coast in alkaline soil. The fruit is red, hence the common name “cherry palm”.
