Plant Profile

Alnus orientalis (Oriental alder)

Alnus orientalis is a deciduous tree with drooping slender branches. Brown catkins are produced in spring, from January to March, eventually turning woody. This is a very fast growing tree, useful for building a quick screen or shade tree. In its natural habitat, Alnus orientalis  lives along the riverbanks. It is a great plant for moist sites and for drinking up moisture from wet/problem areas.
