Cercidiphyllum japonicum (katsura tree)
One of the world's most beautiful small shade trees, with deciduous heart-shaped leaves which first emerge with a bronzy color before turning medium green, golden orange fall foliage and persistent seed pods that decorate the winter branches. Grow katsura tree in full or partial sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Don't grow it on compacted soil since the shallow roots will be interfere with the lawn and sidewalk maintenance.
