Malus domestica (Apple)
Apple has been cultivated for thousands of years. In the spring the tree produces fragrant pink, purple flower and gives an amazing landscape view. In the fall it rewards you with edible apple fruit. The fruit varies a lot of colors, texture and flavor. The tree needs full sun and well drained soil. For best fruit production, trees must be vigorously pruned and maintained. Apples are subjected to many diseases which can be controlled by choosing different varieties resistant to pest and funguses. Most apple are grafted to a strong and vigorous rootstock.
