Berberis julianae (Wintergreen Barberry)
Wintergreen Barberry is ideal for use as an almost impenetrable hedge or barrier planting, with its dense branching growth habit and the spiny leave, and the three-parted spines located along the stiff stems. The plant is evergreen, but develops a bronze or wine color in the fall and winter months. The leaves have spiny edge be careful. Due to the thorn avoid use where small children will be present. It has very decorative bluish/ black berries. The plant grows best on full sun or partial shade. It can grow on any type e of soil but prefers clay loam. Might tolerate salt splashes on the cost.
