Plant Profile

Eugenia uniflora (Surinam Cherry)

Surinam Cherry is an excellent shrub or small  for screens or hedges or for edible gardens , with smooth, shiny, aromatic leaves which are bright red when young. It  has red and orange fruits that are edible. The fruit's flavor ranges from peppery and sour (bright red) to spicy and sweet (darker red). They can be used in preserves or as fresh juice.  And because of these magnificant colors, wildlife is attracted to it such as birds and squirrels/mammals.
