Berberis darwinii (Darwin's barberry)
One of the most beautiful barberries. During spring cluster of yellow flowers are in bloom followed by an edible bluish berries in the summer. The plant is native to Chile, Argentina where its growing in moist open woodlands. Evergreen leaves are small and covered with pickles. The plant can be grown in sun where the weather is cool and mild. Otherwise it is better for partial shade. This is an ideal specimen shrub for a woodland border or shaded foundation planting.
