Aglaonema commutatum (Aglaonema, Chinese evergreen)

The leaves are thick, elliptic shaped, dark green with attractive silver-gray patches, lines on it. As a interior plants it rarely flowers. In its origin it produces a white spadix (typical arum family) enclosed by a pale green spathe, usually in late summer to early fall. Later on a clusters of red berries follow the flowers. Prefers diffused sun or good indirect light and well-drained acidic soil. All parts of plant are poisonous if ingested. Handling plant may cause skin irritation or allergic reaction. Aglaonema attractive planted as single specimens, or in mass to create a tropical, coarse-textured effect. Do not overwater it may cause root rotting.
