Fatsia japonica (Fatsia)
This plant is mainly grown for its outstandingly attractive foliage. Fatsia has huge, 30 cm wide leaves that are deeply lobed and slightly serrated. Flowers are white in a clustered and followed by black fleshy fruit. Flowering season is in fall. Likes slightly acid, compost-rich soil which should not dry out. Plant responds well to fertilizer which helps it look its best. Likes shade or partial shade. Fatsia is a good patio plant and as a shade plant.
