Alnus glutinosa (Common Alder)
Alnus glutinosa is perfect for wet and difficult sites. The tree is a moderate to fast growing deciduous species for cold regions. It bears a glossy, dark green leaf. The catkin flowers are providing a nice winter , early spring look. When its young it has a pyramidal growth with multiple trunk ideal to use it as a screen. The fruit is attracting wildlife. Common alder grows easily in full sun or partial shade in almost any landscape setting due to nitrogen fixation ability from the soil which enabling these trees to grow in the poorest and wettest soils where other trees might fail.
