Polygala myrtifolia (September Bush, Sweet Pea Bush)
Polygala myrtifolia is an upright evergreen shrub growing 1 to 2.5 m tall. Its flowers are bright pink to pale purple and closely resemble pea flowers blooming all year around with a peal in spring. It is a tough shrub suitable for low maintenance coastal and water-wise gardens. This fast growing shrub can be used a hedge and is able to grow in most soil types from full sun to semi-shade. When in shade, its growth is a bit more lax, producing fewer flowers, but it grows happily in the difficult pockets that change from full sun to semi-shade with the seasons.
