Caladium x hortulanum (Caladium, Angel wing)
Caladiums are tender tropical plants grown from tubers. It is grown for its large showy arrow shape leaves. The leaves appear in any color combination, green, pink, red, rose, white, silver and bronze. The flower and the fruit don’t have any ornamental value. The caladium should be planted in partial sun to partial shade and fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Warm soil is a must as cool soil temperature causes rotting. As a general rule all heart shape leaved goes for shade and all arrow shaped leaves goes for partial sun, sun. Usually it grows all year around but if temperature goes below 10 C the bulb goes dormant. For the best performance bulbs better to be dug out each year and stored in dry condition. Used as a bedding plant, in containers or used as a filler in mixed plantings
