Phillyrea angustifolia (False Olive)
Phillyrea angustifolia or False Olive is a densely branched evergreen shrub with upright habit native to the Mediterranean basin. It has 3-4cm, elongate-lanceolate, almost linear, glossy dark green leaves. Its salt tolerant foliage is suited to exposed coastal sites. Its fragrant flowers are greenish-white, and it blooms in April-May, followed by bluish-black fruit.It is very tolerant of maritime exposure. It is used for groups or hedging, both free growing and pruned.
