Tamarindus indica ( Tamarind Tree )

The fruits of the tamarind were traded widely in ancient times. Records from the eastern Mediterranean show Tamarindus indica was already in cultivation there in the fourth century B.C. Tamarind is a slow growing large tree can reach the height 25-30 m with a very large trunk. It is native to Africa. The leaves are compound, the flowers are good nectar source for honey. The fruit is edible and used in many cuisine. The pulp of the fruit is also used as anti inflammatory.
